My top 2 natural remedies for ear infections

I don’t know about your house, but it seems like ear pain and infections are a common child’s ailment these days. As far as natural remedies go, these are my favorite two items to have on hand.

Mullein Garlic Oil

This is always the item I reach for first when one of our kids mentions ear soreness. It’s made from a blend of Mullein, Calendula and St. John's Wort flower extracts, and Garlic bulb extract. I put a drop or two in the affected ear, gently massage the ear at the base, and then finish with a small cotton ball in the ear to keep the oil in place and prevent it from leaking back out.

Our kids say they smell like vegetables when we use mullein garlic oil, but the results we notice are quick and positive, so no one minds. :) I like to use it during the night for a few reasons.

1. The body has more time to absorb the oil in a resting position.

2. Hearing loss from the cotton ball doesn’t affect daytime activities or school.

3. Mullein garlic oil does stain. Using it at night limits potential stains to bedding or pajamas, rather than daytime clothing and household items, should it leak.

Colloidal Silver

If you’ve never heard of nature’s antibiotic, it’s amazing. Silver is a mineral that kills pathogens, and has endless uses when it comes to treating illnesses at home.

If the mullein garlic oil doesn’t clear up ear pain in our house, we’ll add a couple drops of colloidal silver in the affected ear 2-4 times per day. After each application I massage the base of the ear, but rarely add the cotton during the daytime. This brand* of colloidal silver is clear, and I’m not concerned with staining.
